What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that is evidence based (treatment methods that have been well researched and proven to work). The aim of CBT is to help you develop an understanding of your current challenges, map out goals, and develop coping strategies for the future.
CBT is based on the concept that there are links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking and behaviour you can change the way you think and behave and start to rediscover the pleasure and enjoyment you previously felt.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on what you are wanting help with. I am committed to helping you as effectively as possible, usually this may mean 5 -20 sessions. I will always discuss and agree with you the anticipated number of sessions.
What will happen in the first session?
The first session is an assessment. During the assessment, you will be able to find out more about the therapy and I will ask you questions about your current situation. You may understandably experience some apprehension before attending, but clients often say that the first session was an invaluable way of gaining perspective about current difficulties and highlighting a way through. At the end of the session, we will agree therapy goals, and this will underpin the focus in follow up sessions.
How much does it cost?
- $225 for initial assessment
- $170 for follow up appointments (50-minute duration)
All charges are payable by cash or internet banking on the day of your appointment
Do you charge for non-attendance?
Yes, if an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice the session fee will apply to cover costs
Do you see children?
No, I do not see children or young people under the age of 18
